What is the Lee Ju-hong Children's Literature Museum?

The Lee Ju-hong Children's Literature Museum is a place that honors the vision and literary world of Hyangpa Lee Ju-hong, a writer who helped lead modern children's literature in Korea, while sharing the joy of literature with children.
It is located at 828-7 Hapcheonhosu-ro, Yongju-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, and is loved as one of Hapcheon's representative family outing destinations.
The museum opened in December 2011 and was designed so visitors can experience Lee Ju-hong's many literary achievements and artistic spirit.

Main Exhibits and Spaces

1. First Floor Permanent Exhibition Hall and Archive Room

   • Various materials are displayed, including Lee Ju-hong's life story, major works, and award history.
   • You can get a close sense of the writer's touch through treasured items such as his actual handwriting, handwritten manuscripts, fountain pen, and notebook.
   • It is a space where children can read fairy tales and children's poems while building their literary imagination.

2. Second Floor Children's Library and Experience Zone

   • Along with a variety of children's books, your kids can enjoy fun activities such as copying texts, creating three-line poems, writing letters, writing postcards, and recording children's poems.
   • Paper and various writing tools are provided, so children can write or draw and play freely.
   • There is also a unique event where displayed creations or items placed in the mailbox can later be received as real mail.

3. Outdoor Scenery and Activities

   • Next to the museum, there is a recreated thatched house based on Lee Ju-hong's birthplace, and the spacious outdoor area is used as a place where children can enjoy nature while playing.
   • Beside the building, there is a restored space recreating Lee Ju-hong's birthplace, and traditional play toys are available in front of it.
   • Nearby, you can also visit various cultural facilities such as the Hapcheon Agricultural Culture Museum.
