• Andong Hahoe Village is a living traditional village with more than 600 years of history, located in Pungcheon-myeon, Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
• It is a clan village where the Pungsan Ryu family has lived for generations, preserving Confucian values from the Joseon Dynasty, traditional aristocratic culture, and historic architectural styles.
• The village name, "Hahoe," comes from its unique geography, where the Nakdong River flows around the village in an S shape.
• In 2010, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its value has been recognized around the world.

Village layout and highlights

• The village still has around 150 traditional hanok houses, with tiled-roof homes for noble families and thatched-roof homes for commoners arranged in harmony.
• It is also the birthplace of famous Joseon-era scholars and politicians such as Ryu Un-ryong and Ryu Seong-ryong.
• At the center of the village stands a 600-year-old zelkova tree, where you can relax with your kids in the shade.
• Rather than being arranged only to face south, the houses are positioned around the zelkova tree and look out toward the river, giving the village a distinctive feel compared with other traditional villages.
• Traditional events such as the Hahoe Byeolsingut Mask Dance Play, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Seonyu Julbul Nori are still passed down today, making this a well-known place to experience Korean culture.

• You can freely stroll through the village and look around the historic homes, and in some places you can also join experiences such as hanbok wearing and tea etiquette programs.
• On days when the Hahoe Byeolsingut Mask Dance Play is performed, you can watch the traditional mask dance in person and experience Korean folk culture.
• At the Hahoe World Mask Museum, kids can see a wide variety of masks from Korea and abroad for a unique experience.

Admission and visitor information

• Operating hours are 09:00 to 18:00 in the summer season, from April to September, and 09:00 to 17:00 in the winter season, from October to March. Admission closes 30 minutes before closing time.
• Admission fees are 5,000 won for adults, 2,500 won for teenagers and military personnel, and 1,500 won for children, so the whole family can visit comfortably.
• A dedicated parking lot is available free of charge, and near the village entrance there is a market where you can enjoy traditional foods and local specialties.
• An information center and cultural tourism guides are available on site, so you can enjoy a meaningful walk while listening to stories about history and culture with your kids.
