What kind of place is Jungnammi Culture Center?

Located in Goyang-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Jungnammi Culture Center is the only place in Asia where you can deeply experience the diverse cultures and arts of Central and South America. The founder, a former diplomat, spent more than 40 years traveling across many Latin American countries and collecting artifacts, artworks, and traditional clothing, all of which you can see here in one place. It feels like being instantly transported to South America for a truly exotic experience.

1. Vivid Central and South American Artifacts and Art

• Ancient artifacts, ceramics, ornaments, and colonial-era objects representing the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations are on display, helping your kids naturally learn about world cultures.
• In the art gallery, you will find paintings, sculptures, and other works by local artists that showcase the vivid colors and patterns unique to Central and South America.
• Handmade textiles such as traditional Mola and Huipil garments are also fascinating to see.

2. An Exotic Outdoor Sculpture Park

• A variety of works by contemporary sculptors from 12 Central and South American countries are displayed along the walking paths.

3. A Special Religious Exhibition Hall and Murals

• There is a unique exhibition hall that blends 17th-century European Baroque style with Central and South American traditions.

• From Samsong Station on Subway Line 3, take Village Bus 053, get off at Goyang-dong Market, then walk about 10 minutes

• Photography may be restricted in some indoor exhibition halls, so please keep that in mind.
• Right across from the center is Goyang Hyanggyo from the Joseon era, giving you a special chance to experience South American culture and old Korean culture in one trip. There is parking available, but it is limited, so if it is full, you can use the Goyang Hyanggyo parking lot right next door.
• With a museum, art gallery, religious exhibition hall, and outdoor sculpture park, it is a great place to explore at a relaxed pace.
• From the building itself to the outdoor spaces, everything is beautiful, making it a lovely place to take photos with your child.
• The autumn foliage is especially beautiful, so a fall visit is highly recommended.
• The walking paths are well maintained, so strollers can get around fairly well, though there are some uphill sections and stairs.

• Some exhibits, such as masks and dolls, may feel a little scary for very young children.
