What kind of place is the Korean Minhwa Museum?

The Korean Minhwa Museum is located on Cheongjachon-gil in Daegu-myeon, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, and is a special place where you can experience the value and beauty of minhwa, Korea's traditional folk paintings. Opened in 2015, it is a sister museum to the Joseon Minhwa Museum in Yeongwol, the first museum in Korea dedicated to minhwa, and houses more than 4,500 minhwa artifacts from the Joseon era to the present day.

• You can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities, from minhwa painting to making bags.
• The first-floor exhibition hall is best viewed with a docent's explanation, but very young children may find it a bit boring, so it can be a good idea to watch the minhwa-related video at the entrance before looking around the gallery.
• The second-floor exhibitions are more modern and often feature younger artists with a variety of approaches.
• There is also a photo zone on the second floor, making it a nice spot to take pictures with your kids.
• Children are not allowed in the erotic art exhibition.
• Kids can also enjoy the 4D/VR experience.
• It is nice to visit together with the Celadon Museum Digital Museum and the Celadon Museum.
• There is a playground, and the outdoor area is spacious, so it is also great for a walk.

• There are 4 permanent and special exhibition halls: the permanent exhibition hall, special exhibition hall, everyday minhwa exhibition hall, and erotic art exhibition hall.
• About 250 pieces from the collection are displayed on a rotating basis, allowing you to appreciate a wide range of minhwa themes, such as magpies, tigers, flowers and birds, and letter paintings.
• Paintings reflecting the hopes of past generations, such as family, good fortune, and prosperity, as well as Korean beauty, are displayed by period, so children can naturally learn about traditional culture and everyday life.

Hands-on programs to enjoy with your child

• A variety of minhwa experiences are available, including minhwa painting, making minhwa fans and eco bags, and creating minhwa mugs and wooden boxes.
• These experiences are run as package programs, and with fun explanations from a professional guide, children can draw and make minhwa themselves for a vivid hands-on experience.
• A 4D video experience is also available, helping children understand minhwa easily and in a fun audiovisual way.
• Experience time is about 1 hour 30 minutes, with different difficulty levels available by age.
