Located in Bubuk-myeon, Miryang-si, Wiyangmot (Yangyaje) is a historic artificial pond that began as an agricultural reservoir during the Silla period. The name "Wiyang" carries the meaning of "for the people," and in the middle of the pond, you will find five small islands and a pavilion called Wanjaejeong, adding to its calm and peaceful atmosphere. Records say that after the Imjin War, Mirju magistrate Lee Yudal restored it again in 1634, which gives the site significant historical value.

In spring, the fringe trees bloom in full white, creating a scene that looks as if snow has fallen. The peak season is especially from late April to early May, which is when photographers and families visit the most. In autumn, the fall foliage is beautiful, and in winter, a soft mist rises over the water, giving the pond a different charm in every season.

Wanjaejeong and its cultural heritage story

Wanjaejeong, the traditional pavilion at the center of the pond, was built in 1900 and is still used today for ancestral rites, education, and gatherings by the local clan. You can go inside and look around, and taking photos with the pavilion window frames as a backdrop is especially popular. The site is also widely known as a filming location for dramas, making it a special place to create memories with your child.

Since the area is quite spacious, bringing a stroller is a good idea if you are visiting with a young child. Because it is a natural setting, there may be bugs, so be sure to bring mosquito repellent as well. Many spots, including the beautiful traditional pavilion Wanjaejeong, make great photo zones. At the nearby cafe "Yeolmaega Pureunnal," you can also try blueberry picking, so it is a nice addition to your outing. The parking lot is large, but during the fringe tree blooming season in May, parking may become limited. On Naver Map, search for "Wiyangji Parking Lot." If the parking lot is full, you can park along the roadside near the Wiyangji entrance road and walk in.
