Location and features of Gongneungcheon

• Gongneungcheon is a long stream stretching 45.7 km, starting in Jangheung-myeon, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, passing through Goyang-si and Geumchon-dong in Paju-si, then flowing along Gyohadong and Songchon-dong into the Hangang River.
• The Paju section, about 16 km long, is centered around Geumchon-dong and features a riverside walking trail, bike path, flower gardens, and other spaces that are perfect for a family outing.

Highlights to enjoy with kids

• The April tulip festival is especially well known, and at other times it is a peaceful place for a walk. There are plenty of photo spots throughout the flower gardens, so be sure to take some lovely pictures.
• In spring, more than 140,000 tulips are planted along the riverside, making it a wonderful place for a walk through the flowers, and during the barley harvest season, a barley festival is also held.
• You can spot migratory birds such as egrets, geese, and mandarin ducks throughout the seasons, giving kids a chance to enjoy nature study and ecological experiences.
• Around the stream, you will find sports facilities, grassy plazas, rest areas, walking trails, and bike rest stops where the whole family can relax comfortably.
• Nearby, there are also Joseon royal tombs, including Gongneung, Sunneung, and Yeongneung, so you can enjoy both nature and culture together.
• In summer, a water play area is also operated. If you plan to use it, it is recommended to bring a picnic mat so you can sit comfortably in the shade.

Recommended walking and cycling courses

• Gongneungcheon bike path
  The approximately 16 km section from Janggok Small Park to Bongilcheon Bridge to Geumneung Station to Gyohwa Sports Park to Songchon Bridge is a course where you can ride while enjoying the changing scenery and diverse ecology through all four seasons.
• Estuary walking course
  Another recommended route is an approximately 6.6 km walking course that starts at Songchon Bridge, follows the embankment road to the Yeongcheon drainage gate, and returns along the embankment road on the opposite side. Along the way, you can see the scenery of Bukhansan, the Odusan Unification Observatory, and the point where it meets the Hangang River.

• The wide riverside area is easy to access, and the walking trail and bike road are safely separated, so the whole family can enjoy the area with peace of mind.
• With seasonal flower festivals, changing natural scenery, and birdwatching opportunities, your kids will always have something interesting to experience.
• There are also plenty of nearby sights and foods to enjoy, including historic royal tombs and the traditional walking market at Bongilcheon Market.

Visit tips

• The most colorful and exciting times to visit are during the tulip blooming season in spring or the barley harvest festival.
• It is conveniently accessible on foot from Geumneung Station on the Gyeongui Line, making public transportation easy to use.
• It is a great place to spread out a picnic mat in the flower gardens, grassy plazas, or rest areas, enjoy a picnic, or go on a family bike outing.
• For parking, the nearby Geumchon Public Parking Lot is recommended.
