What Is Lee Bong-chang History Echo Hall?

Located at 281-9 Baekbeom-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Lee Bong-chang History Echo Hall is a special space that opened in October 2020 in the style of a traditional hanok to honor the life and spirit of Lee Bong-chang, one of Korea's representative independence activists. This is also where Lee Bong-chang grew up, and it is close to the site of his birthplace, making it a meaningful place where you can experience a real historical setting with your child.

Main Exhibits and Experiences

• Exhibition space layout
  • The exhibition hall is divided into a total of 3 indoor zones, ZONE 1 to 3, and 1 outdoor zone, A.
  • Each zone presents in detail Lee Bong-chang's life story, his motivations and preparations for the independence movement, the Tokyo bombing attempt and his death, and the impact that followed, all arranged by period.
• Immersive digital experiences
  • Through the kiosk experience, you can look at scenes of old Yongsan, and there is also an AR photo experience that lets visitors see themselves as if they were members of the Korean Patriotic Corps.
  • In the VR experience hall, you can feel the 1932 attack scene in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department from a first-person perspective, helping kids take in history in a more vivid way.
• The meeting between Lee Bong-chang and Kim Gu
  • In front of the wooden porch, there is a sculpture representing their historic meeting, allowing you to feel the tension and emotion of that moment.
  • A variety of artifacts, including the declaration of the Korean Patriotic Corps, actual letters, and money transfer certificates, are on display as replicas, so you can encounter the reality of the independence movement up close.
• History Echo Park
  • In the front yard of the exhibition hall, there is a landscaped space called Lee Bong-chang History Park. Apple trees, plum trees, and pine trees are planted there, and benches are provided so families can take a short rest.

• Location and transportation: It is a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Hyochang Park Station on Line 6 and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, making it easy to visit by public transportation. There is no separate parking lot, so it is best to use public transportation or the public parking lot near Hyochang Park Station.
