Incheon Dohobu Government Office is the government building of the Dohobu, which served as the central administrative institution for the Incheon area during the Joseon Dynasty. It was established when Incheon was elevated to dohobu status in the late 15th century, and for many years it played an important role as a key local political and administrative center. Originally, it consisted of 15 to 16 different buildings, but only part of the complex remains today.

The exact date of its original construction is unknown, but based on an inscription found on a roof tile during repairs to the guesthouse, reading "Kangxi Year 16," it is believed to have been rebuilt in 1677, the 3rd year of King Sukjong of Joseon. After repeated damage and relocations, parts of the guesthouse and dongheon now remain within Munhak Elementary School, and restored buildings on a separate site are also open for visitors.

With a reservation, you can also join special activities such as making ring ornaments, trying on traditional clothing, and experiencing traditional tea. There are also immersive educational programs such as "I Am the Incheon Magistrate," where kids can step into the role of a Joseon-era official and get a glimpse of life at the government office.

Visiting tips and notes

• Some of the original government buildings are located inside an elementary school, so access for the general public may be limited. Restored buildings can be viewed on the site next to Incheon Hyanggyo nearby.
• It is about a 15-minute walk from Exit 2 of Munhak Sports Complex Station on Incheon Line 1, making it easy to reach.
• A free parking lot is available, and the government office is right next to it, making visits with kids convenient.
• If you make a reservation in advance and join one of the experience programs, your visit can be even more meaningful.
• The outdoor area is fairly spacious, and the quiet atmosphere at the foot of Munhaksan makes it a nice spot for a family picnic as well.
• Event information and operating schedules are posted on the notice board at the entrance and on the website, so checking them in advance can help you make the most of your visit.
• This is also one of the traditional course stops for the Incheon stamp tour "Incheoneji," so be sure to collect a stamp and receive a coupon.
