• Mokpogu Lighthouse is a modern cultural heritage lighthouse located at 582 Maebong-gil, Hwawon-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.
• It has convenient facilities such as a dedicated parking lot (free), restrooms, a snack shop, and a cafe.
• There are also many photo spots, and it is a great place to take pictures with the South Sea in the background.
• Inside the newly built sailboat-shaped lighthouse, you will find a lighthouse exhibition hall, 3D experiences, navigation experiences, and a photo guestbook, making it a great place to visit with your kids.
• The old lighthouse tower was built during the Japanese colonial period and later became the model for lighthouses in Korea, so it has historical significance as a registered modern cultural heritage site.
• It is also famous for its beautiful sunset as part of Seohaerang Trail Courses 15 to 16, and if you head down below the lighthouse, you will find a coastal walking path.

Features and history of Mokpogu Lighthouse

• It is a valuable building designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 379 in July 2008.
• It was first operated as an unmanned lighthouse, then changed to a manned lighthouse in 1964 as ship traffic increased.
• In 2003, it was renovated into a marine cultural space, and the area around the lighthouse is open for anyone to visit.
• Right next to the lighthouse, there is also a new and taller lighthouse tower, which makes it fun to compare the two with your kids.
