Introduction and history

• Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Children's Library was established in 1979, the International Year of the Child, as Korea's first public library dedicated exclusively to children.
• Located on the slopes of Inwangsan, inside Sajik Park, it has been loved for about 40 years as a special learning space where children can grow alongside books.

Layout and key facilities

• The library is divided into three buildings: Toddler and Preschool Library, Resources Building (Main Building), and Culture Building (Annex).

1. Toddler and Preschool Library

• 1st floor: The Infant and Young Children Book Nuri area, filled with picture books and magazines for babies and young children
• 2nd floor: Theme-based areas such as Storybook Land, Play Land, and Baby Land
• This is a floor-seating space where shoes are removed, so children can read and play comfortably.

2. Resources Building (Main Building)

• 1st floor: Book Nuri 1, Gomduri Room, Book Cafe, Children's Gallery, and more
• 2nd floor: Book Nuri 2, office, audiovisual room, and multicultural room
• 3rd floor: A variety of spaces including an exhibition room, audiovisual room, and meeting room

3. Culture Building (Annex)

• 1st floor: Experience Story Village, operated as an advance reservation program
• 2nd to 3rd floors: Various spaces that combine hands-on activities and learning, including Learning Nuri Room, club room, and On Dream Nuri space

  • weekdays: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • weekends: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Closed on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month

  • There is a small parking area at the library. The first 1 hour is free, and additional charges apply afterward at 200 won per 5 minutes.
  • As parking is limited, public transportation is more convenient.

  • Convenience spaces for parents and children, including a family nursing room, are available.

Collection and programs

• The library holds more than 290,000 volumes of children's books, along with a variety of media materials such as DVDs, audio CDs, and e-books.
• A wide range of children's classes, reading clubs, hands-on programs, and exhibitions are offered throughout the year.
• In the reading rooms and digital resource room, you can freely browse materials, and some items are available for borrowing.

• When visiting, sign up for membership at the on-site kiosk and receive a physical card
• You can borrow and return books with the card, and the process is simple.
