Jegidong Gamcho Village Hyun Jin-geon Memorial Library is a special cultural space in Jegi-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, created to honor the novelist Hyun Jin-geon. Filled with the spirit of the humanities and literature, it offers a welcoming environment where parents and children can enjoy a variety of experiences through books.

Facilities

• The library is located on the 4th and 5th floors. On the 4th floor, you will find a general reading room and literature-focused book curation, while the 5th floor has a reading room and program room for both children and adults.
  The 4th floor is Reading Room 1 of the Hyun Jin-geon Memorial Library, and children's books are available in Reading Room 2 on the 5th floor.
• There are about 88 seats in a comfortable reading area, making it suitable for reading, studying, and relaxing.
• On the 2nd floor, there is a village cafe; on the 3rd floor, a senior center and village office; and on the rooftop, a garden, so families can also enjoy a range of cultural experiences together.

Spaces for children and families

• On the 5th floor, you will find a wide variety of content that kids can easily access and enjoy, including books for toddlers and children, children's magazines, and book curation for young readers.
  Reading Room 2 on the 5th floor is a reading room shared by families, so there may be some noise.
• Exhibitions introducing Hyun Jin-geon's major works and life, along with cultural programs and hands-on events for children, are also held regularly.

Visitor information

• Hours: Open from 9:00 to 18:00 on Monday through Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Closed on Fridays and public holidays.
• Books can be borrowed and read after membership registration.
  Borrowing and returns are available only for holders of a Dongdaemun-gu Integrated Library card or Chaekieum membership card, and for those who pre-register on the Dongdaemun-gu integrated website and then receive a borrowing membership card.
  Be sure to bring your ID when making a library card.
• Parking is limited, so public transportation or walking is recommended whenever possible.
  "Parking available," but spaces are quite limited.

• It is the only literary memorial space in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul where you can directly experience the literary world of Hyun Jin-geon.
• As a newly built library, it has a bright and pleasant atmosphere for reading, and it is especially well suited for family visitors because people of various ages can enjoy it together.

1. If your child would like to borrow books, it is more convenient to bring an ID or student ID.
2. Outside food is not allowed in the library, but drinks with lids are exceptionally permitted.
