About the Place

Busan Democracy Park is located at 19 Minjugongwongil, Jung-gu, Busan, and was created in 1999 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Bu-Ma Democratic Protests. It is a symbolic space made to honor Korea's modern democratization movement and to help all citizens learn about and appreciate the value of democracy. Inside the park, historically meaningful buildings such as the Memorial Hall for Democratic Protests blend with wide natural spaces.

  The Democracy Park parking lot inside the park is free, while the Jungang Park public parking lot is paid. On weekends and public holidays, there are many visitors, so an early visit is recommended.

  If you parked around the middle of the park, you can enter through the Memorial Hall for Democratic Protests and go down the central stairs to easily find the double cherry blossom hill. With both stone steps and flat paths, it is a pleasant place for a walk.

  From Exit 1 of Choryang Station on Busan Metro Line 1, take Bus 508 and get off at the Jungang Park-Democracy Park stop, then walk for about 6 minutes.

  Use the parking lots at Jungang Park and Democracy Park. Please note that parking can be crowded.
