About Munam Ecological Park

Munam Ecological Park is a large urban theme park located in Munam-dong, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju. This site was environmentally redeveloped from a household waste landfill and opened to the public in 2010. It is now widely loved for family outings, nature learning for children, and relaxing walks.

Main Features and Facilities

• Spacious grounds and a variety of themed areas
  The park covers about 210,000 square meters (70,000 pyeong) and features spaces that combine family, sports, and ecological themes.

• Ecology and nature experiences

  • There are wetland gardens, an arboretum, gardens, various walking trails, an ecological observation deck, and an ecological hands-on learning area where you and your kids can observe and experience the ecosystem up close.
  • Every summer, you can listen to the calls of narrow-mouthed toads and observe wetland ecology at the Narrow-mouthed Toad Wetland.

• Play and relaxation

  • The park offers many things to enjoy and see, including several types of playgrounds, a ground fountain, an environmental experience playground, rest areas, and an artificial waterfall.
  • The water playground opens in summer and has a limit of 200 children, excluding parents. Wristbands are provided at entry. The air pool with slides is divided into a toddler zone and a children's zone. Swimsuits and aqua shoes are recommended but not required, while hats are required. Slippers and sneakers are not allowed.
  • At the AR Zoo, newly added in September 2023, you can meet 10 kinds of animals throughout the park through an augmented reality application.
  • When the water playground is open, food trucks come so you can buy tasty food. There are simple showers and changing rooms, and family rest areas are located around the water playground.
  • Animal sculptures are installed between the playground and the ground fountain.

• Picnics and special experiences

  • There is a barbecue area and campground, where families can enjoy camping or a barbecue picnic. The barbecue area is available freely on weekdays and on a first-come, first-served reservation basis on weekends. Shade tents are not allowed, so please check the usage guidelines in advance.
  • You can spread out a mat on the wide lawn and enjoy a relaxing nature break in the city.

• Additional and convenience facilities

  • The park is also well equipped with various facilities, including a parking lot, an outdoor performance venue, a health forest experience area, a pet playground, and the Cheongju International Eco Complex.
  • Restrooms are located in several places, and if you use the campground, you can also access nearby supermarkets and convenience stores.

• It is especially well suited for families visiting with children, and on weekends it is a good idea to plan ahead if you want to use the barbecue area or playground.
