What makes Soyosan special

• Soyosan is a 587 m mountain located in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi-do. It is not especially large, but it is known for its striking rock formations, beautiful valleys, and horseshoe-shaped ridges.
• In spring, azaleas and royal azaleas bloom beautifully. In summer, you will find clear valleys and lush green forests. In fall, the mountain is covered in vibrant foliage, earning it the nickname "the Geumgang of Gyeonggi." It is popular in every season.
• With hiking trails and walking paths for different skill levels, it is a great place for families, especially those visiting with children. You can choose anything from a light walk to a more serious hike.

1. Easy hiking and walking courses

   • The main hiking and walking route includes Iljumun, Jajaeam, Baegundae, Uisangdae, and Gongjubong. Some sections can be enjoyed in about 1 hour, making them a manageable choice for families with young children.
   • Near the entrance, there are flat forest paths and valley spots such as Wonhyo Falls and Cheongnyang Falls, where you can also enjoy water play and nature experiences.

2. Sights to see and legends to discover

   • Story-filled spots are found throughout the mountain, including Jajaeam, Wonhyo Falls, and the site of Princess Yoseok's villa, all connected to the legend of Great Monk Wonhyo and Princess Yoseok from the Silla era.
   • There is also a forest bathing area and a wide grassy plaza, giving children a safe and pleasant space to run around.

3. Easy access and nearby facilities

   • You can walk from Soyosan Station on Subway Line 1, so it is very easy to reach by public transportation.
   • If you park at the Northern Gyeonggi Children's Museum and show your museum admission ticket, parking is free, but you will need to walk about 25 minutes uphill from the parking lot to the Soyosan entrance.
   • Nearby family-friendly attractions such as the Health Five Elements Trail and the Freedom Protection Peace Museum also make it easy to plan a full day out.

4. Admission fees

   • Admission is 2,000 won for adults, 300 won for children, and 600 won for teenagers and soldiers.
   • Passenger car parking is 2,000 won. Dongducheon residents, visitors during holiday periods, seniors, and people with disabilities can enter free of charge, and groups of 30 people or more receive a discount.

Things to keep in mind

• There are many rocky paths around the middle and upper parts of the mountain, so sneakers or hiking shoes are recommended when visiting with children.
• Since many families visit, weekends and holidays can be relatively crowded, so an early visit is recommended.
• Water play is possible in some valley areas, but please be mindful of safety.
