Jeju Haenyeo Museum is located at 26 Haenyeobangmulgwan-gil, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, in a fishing village where you can take in the full view of Sehwari Beach. It is a special place where you can deeply experience the long history of Jeju haenyeo, their unique culture, and the resilient lives of Jeju women who lived alongside the sea. Opened in 2006, the museum was created to preserve and pass on haenyeo culture, one of Jeju's representative cultural heritages.

    • There are 3 exhibition halls featuring a wide range of materials, including haenyeo clothing, tools, household items, and photographs.
    • In Exhibition Hall 1, you can learn about the birth and growth of haenyeo, their daily customs, and the myth of Yeongdeunggut.
    • In Exhibition Halls 2 and 3, you will find displays on the haenyeo community, the real lives of haenyeo, as well as audio recordings and video interviews with haenyeo, making the experience especially vivid.

    • You can see an actual thatched house and household items donated by haenyeo themselves, along with a recreated bulteok, the resting and changing area used by haenyeo.

    • On the first floor, there is a children's haenyeo experience hall where kids can easily try activities such as gathering seafood, traditional games, and sea-themed play.
  4. Memorial for the Jeju Haenyeo Anti-Japanese Movement

    • In the garden in front of the museum, there is a monument honoring the 1932 anti-Japanese movement led by Jeju haenyeo.

    • From the museum's large windows and garden, you can enjoy the Sehwari sea right in front of you and make wonderful memories surrounded by nature.
