What kind of place is Jayu Park?

Jayu Park is Korea's first Western-style park, located in Sinpo-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, and it was created in 1888, giving it a long and meaningful history. It was once known by several names, including "Gakguk Park," "Manguk Park," and "Seo Park," and it received its current name in 1957 when the statue of General MacArthur was erected to commemorate the Incheon Landing Operation. The entire Eungbongsan area forms the park naturally, so you can enjoy wide-open views and a refreshing sense of calm right in the middle of the city.

• Statue of General MacArthur and memorial tower
  At the top of the park stands the statue of General MacArthur, a key figure in the Incheon Landing Operation, and right beside it is a grand memorial tower marking the 100th anniversary of Korea-US diplomatic relations. It is a meaningful place where your kids can experience a piece of Korea's modern history.

• Lush walking trails and observatories
  Jayu Park is filled with trees and sits on elevated ground, making it a great place to enjoy fresh air and a variety of natural scenery during a walk. If you head up to pavilions such as Seokjeongnu and Yeonojeong, you can take in sweeping views of Incheon Port and Wolmido from afar. The sunset here is especially known for being beautiful.

• Various events and festivals
  Every April, the cherry blossoms throughout the park come into full bloom, and the Cherry Blossom Festival is held. You will also find a variety of family-friendly activities such as drawing and writing events, making it even more fun to visit with your child.

• Play and rest areas
  There are spaces where kids can run around freely, including a small zoo, Palgakjeong, several rest areas, and a badminton court. You will also find pocket playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment throughout the park, making it a pleasant place for the whole family to spend time together.

• It is a 5-minute walk from Incheon Station on Line 1, making it easy to reach by public transportation.
• Nearby, you will find family-friendly spots such as Chinatown, Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village, and Sinpo International Market.

Good to know before you go

• Facilities and conveniences: baby chairs, a nursing room, diaper changing tables, stroller rental, parking, and reservations are not provided.
• There are many stairs, so visiting with a stroller may feel inconvenient. Since there are several entrances, you can choose a route that does not require going up and down too many stairs with your child. There are several street parking lots around the park, and it is also close to the parking lot for Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village.
• It is open year-round, and admission is free.
• Each season has its own charm, from spring cherry blossoms to autumn foliage and snowy winter scenery.
