The Village Story and History

Jaman Mural Village is a small hillside village just across the road from Jeonju Hanok Village. It was first formed when refugees settled here during the Korean War, and for a long time it was an ordinary hillside neighborhood. But starting in 2012, charming murals began appearing throughout the village, transforming it into one of Jeonju's most distinctive attractions.

You will also find the "Jamandong Geumpyo," a marker showing that this was once the place where Yi Ansa, the fourth-generation ancestor of Taejo Yi Seong-gye, the founder of Joseon, lived. That makes it a lovely place for a walk where you can naturally share bits of history with your kids too.
