Bunam Beach is a small and peaceful seaside spot located in Bunam-ri, Geundeok-myeon, Samcheok-si, Gangwon State. It was once a military operations area with restricted civilian access, but it has recently been fully opened to the public. Because it is not crowded, you can fully enjoy the pure beauty of nature here. The sand is very fine, so in summer your kids can even walk around barefoot comfortably.

Visitor information and facilities

• Opening season and hours: In summer, swimming is allowed from 9 PM, and safety staff remove jellyfish before opening.
• Size: A cozy beach with about 400 m of white sand and a width of 50 m
• Facilities: Restrooms, changing rooms, and showers are available. Showers cost 3,000 won and provide cold water only.
• Available conveniences: Parking. There is a parking lot at the end of the beach access road, but you need to go down stairs from the parking area to reach the beach, so using a stroller is difficult.
• Not available: Baby chairs, nursing room, diaper changing station, stroller rental, reservations
• Other notes: Life jackets are required before entering the water, and safety staff are on site

Things to keep in mind before visiting

• Because it is next to a military facility, access is restricted outside the opening season.
• There are very few nearby shops or restaurants, so you should bring a packed meal, water, and simple supplies.
• The access road to the beach is narrow, so large vehicles may have difficulty entering, and you may need to walk part of the way.
• It is recommended for families who want a quiet nature experience without crowds.
