What is Seoraksan National Park?

Seoraksan National Park is one of Korea's leading natural attractions, spanning several areas of Gangwon Province, including Hangyeri, Buk-myeon, Inje-gun, Gangwon State. Designated as a national park in 1970, it has preserved its natural ecosystem and beautiful scenery for more than 50 years, and in 1982 it was listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Its highest peak, Daecheongbong at 1,708 m, is the third-highest mountain in South Korea.

Nature, plants, and wildlife you can meet at Seoraksan

• More than 1,100 plant species and over 1,500 animal species live here, so your kids can observe a wide range of living things and learn how valuable nature is.
• Endangered wildlife such as the Asian black bear and goral live here, and there are also many rare plants, making it a wonderful place for ecological learning.

Main sights and experiences

• You can enjoy grand and distinctive natural scenery at places such as Daecheongbong, Ulsanbawi, Biryong Falls, and Cheonbuldong Valley.
• If you take the Seoraksan Cable Car, you can easily enjoy sweeping mountain views without too much effort, so it is also fun for kids.
  However, if the wind is strong, service may be suspended even on the same day, so be sure to check the on-site announcements.
• As you walk along the trails, you will also come across beautiful historic temples such as Baekdamsa and Sinheungsa.
  Sinheungsa offers temple stay programs, so you may want to try one with your child. Temple stays tend to be quite popular.

Visitor information and helpful tips

• The national park recently became free to enter, so you can visit without the burden of an admission fee.
• Near the small park area, there are a few convenient spots including a cozy Seoraksan rest stop, a traditional-style cafe, and a pizza restaurant, making it easy to grab a bite.
• On weekends, the parking lots closest to the main gate are usually full, and you may need to use the inner parking area. Parking costs 6,000 won, paid in advance.
• Main convenience facilities include parking, while baby chairs, nursing rooms, diaper changing stations, stroller rentals, and reservations are not available.
